Call for Help with the Development of Towncorners.com

Several velgies of mine and I have just worked out the concept, towncorners.com. We are now ready to call for help with the development of this website. Business and individual contributors are all welcome. The purpose of this article is to explain what towncorners.com is and why you should help with its development and become part of the history.

According to Wikipedia, the term, global village, is mostly used as a metaphor to describe the Internet and World Wide Web. But a village, as defined by Wikipedia, is a clustered human settlement or community, larger than a hamlet, but smaller than a town or city. It is a unit of human society and settlement. Just as a hard drive is not a person, the Internet and World Wide Web as the largest library on Earth is not a unit of human society and settlement and thus it cannot be a village of any kind.

Towncorners.com (TCC) is to become the first global village, say, Global Village One (GV1). TCC is just a domain name and it is only one of the many ways to reach GV1. In this article, the village is referred to as GV1 and its main entrance is referred to as TCC. The blog at towncorners.wordpress.com will be used as the first newspaper at GV1.

Towncorners.com should be the promised land or, cries the Vietnamese, đất lành chim đậu. It has a million town corners on its home page, 1000 rows by 1000 columns. When zoomed out to the max, each town corner is a dot on the screen. You can zoom in half way you can see on the screen 500 rows by 500 columns. Further down you will see 100 rows by 100 columns and even further you can see 10 rows by 10 columns. Yes, this works like many online maps. When you zoom in so much that you could only see a single town corner on the screen, you may see a million subdistricts of that town corner. Yes, each town corner on the home page is the window to another set of one million, for lack of better words, child corners. How these child corners are to be used is up to the land owner of their parent corner.

Membership is free of charge but land ownership is not. Towncorners.com members who own one or more town corners are called land owners. Owners of town corners on the home page of towncorners.com are called global village founders or GV1 founding fathers. For those who can’t wait and wish to immediately buy a town corner and become one of the very first global village founders, please contact us at ownacoder.com.

Each town corner will have what is necessary to make it work as closely to a town corner in real life as possible. Land owners can ask for enhancement to the functionality of the global village environment. Functions that are useful to all other land owners will be at a very low cost or even free of charge.

An abundance of search functions will be made available so that people can get to a particular town corner that they are looking for. A land owner or member can declare which is their home corner. When you log in, you will first be brought to your home corner at a preferred scale.

Are you a John McCain – Sarah Palin fan? Are you a Barack Obama – Joe Biden fan? Either way, you might want to buy a town corner for a ticket then get their fan to express their support by purchasing one of your own one million fan corners. Not into politics? Your friends and you can for sure think of many other applications for a town corner at Global Village One: towncorners.com.
